luscious_purple: Ganked from many people (damn not given)

Unfortunately, I live in a condo that's right by the entrance to the community, and if I tried to use a mattress frame as a plant trellis, the HOA would be after my butt. Several years ago I was told not to try to grow tomatoes in a 5-gallon bucket. Apparently that sort of thing reduces curb appeal.

I have a few herbs in pots, but the brick exterior walls of my building face south and soak up thermal energy from the Sun and radiate it back out. Fruiting plants like tomatoes and strawberries don't survive. This town has a community garden plot ... with NO source of water, so unless you can haul your own full buckets and tanks out there, your plants will shrivel up in a dry period.

I admire your work in the garden, but I can't replicate it. At least I have a great local farmers' market.
