News propagation sure has changed in our lifetimes! My first news memory was the assassination of Bobby Kennedy (not JFK), and while I didn't understand what was going on, I was old enough to see how much confusion there was. By the time of the Challenger disaster I was online but it wasn't the norm, and "online" meant email and Usenet that took hours to days to propagate, and actual sort-of-real-time news came from TV coverage. Very different.
