Got the car. First thing, I broke off the driver's door handle. Another thing to the list of things to be fixed....

Got the article done ON TIME. Despite my computer eating some of my prose. Quite chuffed about that, actually.

Electrical work required by the condo association (replacement of circuit-breaker box) has been completed successfully.

Red Sox win first two games of World Series. YAY!!!!!

Working early voting starting tomorrow. Need to say good night....

Are you an election judge or poll worker? We've had our early voting since last week...I worked the polls last week and have this one off, then I'm back to it next Monday.

I'm an election judge. Specifically, I'm a provisional-ballot election judge, so I sit at the side table and hang out until another judge escorts a "problem voter," holding the Orange Privacy Folder of Doom, over to me.

Maryland has eight days of early voting. Most of the early-voting judges work every other day. I'm on the "A Team" for my site -- first, third, fifth, and seventh days. The chief judges and same-day-registration people have to work all eight days.

I help out with other things from time to time, like counting voter activation cards from the ballot scanners. Yesterday I had 11 provisional voters, so I didn't have many of my own cards to count.

We have a whole month of early voting, I'm only helping out on weeks 2 and 4 (and the Monday before the election). We just have walk-in voters because MN is a "vote early, no need for an excuse, we don't care!" state. And we have day-of registration too so literally anyone can (and will) come in to vote early, even if they've never voted in the city before.

Joe is helping at the County next week - opening up absentee ballots and running them through the machine. I kind of wish I was doing that instead of helping at the polls...I'm tired of talking to people about how to fold their ballots and where to sign. I want to just hang out with the poll counter machine for a while.

Oh, I'm fine, just busy. I didn't plan to attend the party simply because I didn't know what time I would be getting out of early voting -- no one can leave until all the closing work is finished. So if I had to stay till 9 p.m., then pick up the boy toy and drive all the way up there, I wouldn't have arrived till after 10, and the boy toy doesn't stay up late anymore. I was exhausted because I didn't sleep well on Friday, either.
